Apple's annual, month-long Apple Music Festival finally comes to an end after celebrating music for the past decade. The event has retired both, locally and internationally. In addition to this, even though Apple will not host the event this year, the company will try to compensate it with shorter and smaller events. We have talked about the company's plans in the media industry, in which it is pushing forward its interests in creating original content. So let's dive in to see some more details on the Apple Music Festival and how it has molded the company's attempts in the category.

Apple Axes Apple Music Festival After 10 Years

Apple started its Music Festival back in 2007.  Back then it was called the iTunes Festival and later it was regarded as Apple Music Festival. The Apple Music Festival regarded Apple as not just a technology company but also kept the company in the entertainment industry. The event featured various well-known artists ranging from Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Kendrick Lamar to Elton John, Ed Sheeran and more.

From the start, the event was held in the United Kingdom. Since 2015, the event lasted 10 days in which artists would perform live for their fans. Even though the iPhone-maker did not reveal its plans to shut down the Apple Music Festival, one can always assume the costs and logistics required to handle the event's operations. It makes sense for Apple to step in the entertainment industry with its plans to transition long events into tours and one-off events.

Taking into account the company's attempts to create original content, it has not been received quite well. However, this does not stop Apple from moving ahead as it is planning to release 10 TV shows every year. The company has planned to spend a hefty $1 billion on the production of original video content. According to a report, Apple will produce 10 shows by next year.

At this point in time, we're not quite sure when might Apple release the said shows to the average user. In addition to this, it is also not clear if the company would still make use of the Apple Music subscription as it did with its Carpool Karaoke series. Nonetheless, it is definitely good to see Apple moving ahead in the production of original video content. As for the Apple Music Festival, all things come to an end and after serving the fans for the past 10 years, the company will no longer host the event this year.
