Amazon Looking to Set up New HQ Costing as Much as $5 Billion and House a Ton of Employees
Amazon continues trying to be all things to all men...

With its operations increasing, online retail giant Amazon says that it will need to shift its workforce elsewhere and increase it substantially. According to the details circulating, the second headquarters belonging to the tech giant would cost as much as $5 billion but its space will be sufficient to house a boatload of employees.

Second Headquarters Belonging to Amazon Will Be Able to House up to 50,000 Employees - North American Metropolis Area Targeted as the Key Location

The second headquarters is going to be called HQ2 and according to Inc, this headquarter must be situated in a North American metropolitan area with more than one million people in the surrounding proximity. According to a statement from the company, this will help encourage a ‘stable and business-friendly environment’ as stated by the online retailer. Jeff Bezos says in a statement that HQ2 is expected to be equivalent to the Seattle headquarters as he states the following.

“We expect HQ2 to be a full equal to our Seattle headquarters. Amazon HQ2 will bring billions of dollars in up-front and ongoing investments, and tens of thousands of high-paying jobs.”

The amount of area that HQ2 is going to occupy has not been detailed by the firm, nor the sort of operations being carried out over there. Since it will be another version of the primary headquarters, we believe that some of the workload is going to be shifted from Seattle to this part of the U.S.

A few dozen metropolitan areas in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico would fit the population requirement. In addition, Amazon wants to prioritize a location that is within 45 minutes of an international airport and near a strong university system, possibly to encourage expatriates or fresh graduates.

The company called for proposals for the new site, with bids due by October 19. Amazon states that it will choose a location sometime next year but in your mind, which area seems to be the most plausible in setting up its second base?
