Leaked iOS 11 GM Hints At An Apple Watch With LTE Connectivity, Also Share Details On The iPhone 8

Firstly for the Apple Watch, an image appears of the Apple Watch that could possibly be the third generation of the wearable. However, what's being coined is that it comes with LTE connectivity. Externally, it keeps the same design aesthetics of the current Apple Watch, so there's no change in that regard. As can be seen in the image provided, the Apple Watch features a Space Gray color with matching sports band. However, one major thing to note here is that the wearable features a bright red-colored Digital Crown.

Since visibly it shares the same form factor as the current Apple Watch, you will be able to use the existing bands. Moreover, the red colored Digital Crown could easily allow you to identify that the device supports LTE chip inside. Moreover, the red Digital Crown could possibly be an antenna. This might not be the right time to jump to conclusions as Apple can always surprise us with something new.

In addition to this, according to 9t05mac's findings, the iOS 11 GM version also shares grave details of the upcoming iPhone 8. Firstly, in the software itself, you will find a boatload of new wallpapers. Secondly, there are new and confirmed features of the handset as well. One of the most prominent features to top the list of new additions is something called 'Portrait Lighting'.

As per the name suggests, the feature would enhance what was already present in the iPhone 7 Plus's camera - Portrait mode. The features use effects to create photos that resemble that of a dSLR through the simulation of varying lighting effects. Some of the effects would include Stage Light, Contour Light, Mono, Studio Light and Natural Light. However, it is believed that the feature would arrive in the form of a beta and will be released in the coming days, as was the case with the Portrait Mode.

In addition to this, the new video recording resolution is also present along with capture speeds:

  • 1080p HD at 240 fps 480 MB with 1080p HD at 240 fps
  • 4K at 24 fps (Footer) 270 MB with 4K at 24 fps (film style) (HEVC Footer) 135 MB with 4K at 24 fps (film style)
  • 4K at 60 fps (Footer) 450 MB with 4K at 60 fps (higher resolution, smoother) (HEVC Footer) 400 MB with 4K at 60 fps (higher resolution, smoother)

In addition to this, according to findings, the iPhone 8 will also feature a True Tone display just like the iPad pro lineup. Moreover, as per the leaked iOS 11 GM, the resolution to be part of the handset will be 1125x2436. Taking into account the method to authenticate into your iPhone, Face ID looks to be the official marketing name instead of Pearl ID. The feature will replace Touch ID. The method to set up Face ID is also present.

You might remember the glyph of the iPhone 8 shared in the HomePod firmware. Well, that appears to be the real deal as the new screen design also features a notch at the top incorporating the front camera and various other sensors. iOS 11 GM also includes the instructions to enable SOS mode by pressing the power button and the volume up key.

Other tiny tidbits include 3D emoji being referred to as Jellyfish and the revised version of the Apple AirPods. The line at the bottom of the display in each app indicates that there will be no Home button and instead there will be an alternative way to access all of the functionality.

The lock button is being referred to as the power switch and it will be used to interact with the firmware. There could possibly be many functionalities associated with it.

These are some of the major details revealed about the ultra-hyped iPhone 8 in the leaked iOS 11 GM. We will update you guys as soon if something new is discovered in the firmware.
