It now appears that the evolutionary update to the iPhone will be called the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus whereas the high-end model will be dubbed the iPhone X. The iPhone X name somewhat makes sense at the point since this is, after all, the tenth anniversary model of the iPhone. And it would be unfair from Apple's end to let the moment go without a bang.
At this point in time it can't be confirmed whether or not these names will officially adorn the upcoming smartphones from Apple, bound for announcement on Tuesday. Even if these are placeholder names, different sources have suggested the very same names in the past as well, giving more weight to this current revelation.
The leaked iOS 11 GM build, in which this discovery was made, revealed a ton of stuff ahead of time already. For instance, we now know that the software will be packed with a bunch of new wallpapers. Apart from that, we also know that the LTE-enabled Apple Watch Series 3 will also make the cut during the event. Apart from that, details on the 'iPhone 8' and 'iPhone X' have been revealed as well.
