Downgrade iOS 11 GM Back to iOS 10 Today if You’re Not Content With Apple’s New Firmware

iOS 11 GM is now available for download. It’s essentially the final version of the software which Apple is going to ship to the end user in the coming days. But if a show-stopping bug is found at the very last minute, Apple will be forced to release a new version of the software in order to iron things out. But given how things are right now, it’s safe to say that this is the only release you should care about for now.

Of course, for some reason, iOS 11 GM might not be for everyone, despite being a stable build. See, the Golden Master build represents the first ever release of a brand new software, therefore it might actually be infested with a bunch of performance related issues which are fixed over a course of time. If you do not wish to go through that much trouble at all, then you might want to consider a downgrade from iOS 11 GM to iOS 10. Follow the guide below on how to get through with the process right away.

Downgrade iOS 11 GM to iOS 10 - Tutorial

Before you begin, please be wary of the fact that any downgrade process will wipe your device clean. So please, create a backup of everything either using iTunes or iCloud.

1. First and foremost, download the latest iOS 10.x build which Apple is currently signing for your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. At the time of writing it is iOS 10.3.3 - [Download Link].

2. Once downloaded, place the IPSW firmware file on the desktop for easy access.

3. Now launch iTunes on your PC or Mac, and connect your iOS device to your computer. If you haven’t downloaded iTunes on your PC already, then you can get it from this link: apple.com/itunes

4. On the main iTunes window, select your iOS device from the top left hand corner. You should see a tiny icon representing your device. Just click on it for more options.

5. You should now see a ‘Restore iPhone’ button in the middle of the main iTunes window. Click on it, but do so while holding down the left Option key (Mac) or the left Shift key (Windows). A new window will open up.

6. Select the iOS 10.3.3 IPSW firmware file you downloaded in step 1 of this tutorial.

iTunes will first extract the firmware, then prepare your iOS device for restore, restore the firmware then verify the installation with Apple. If everything was followed as it is, then you will boot straight into a fresh copy of iOS 10.3.3.
