If you are macOS High Sierra Public Beta user, then you will be pleased to learn that you can update to macOS High Sierra GM (Gold Master) build on your Mac.

macOS High Sierra GM is Now Available for Public Beta Testers

Those enrolled in Apple’s Beta Software Program will be pleased to learn that they too can grab macOS High Sierra GM over the air right away. The update is available like any other software release over the air. If you wish to install macOS High Sierra GM right now on your Mac, then simply follow the steps outlined below.

  • Connect your Mac to the Internet and make sure you have backed up everything in a safe location.
  • Now launch the Mac App Store and click on the Updates tab at the top.
  • Let the Mac App Store refresh completely and in a few seconds the macOS High Sierra GM will show up for download. Just click on the Update button right next to it and the download process will commence immediately.
  • Once the download is complete, your Mac will ask you if you wish to go ahead with the installation process right away or postpone it. Take the appropriate course of action given your situation.

As soon as the installation is complete, you will boot straight into macOS High Sierra, except that you’ll be on the GM build rather than the public beta which you were running before. Sounds like something which you can live with, right?

It’s highly recommended that you use this over the air route if you wish to retain your settings and files. It’s an extremely easy procedure to go through, and saves you from the trouble of performing a clean installation and restoring all your backup once you’re done. But still, if you want to go through the clean installation route, that is available to you as well. Keep one thing in mind: you will require an Apple Developer Program membership for it in order to have access to the macOS High Sierra GM installation file. Once downloaded, you can then create and installer bootable disk from it and install macOS High Sierra GM from scratch.

We will cover more macOS High Sierra GM related posts in the days to come so stay tuned. Meanwhile, public beta testers should update to the GM build right now.
