Last year's release of The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim Special Edition on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One brought some form of mod support. The Nintendo Switch release, based on the Special Edition, isn't even going to get what the other two consoles received, at least at launch.

Speaking with US Gamer, Bethesda's Pete Hines confirmed that mod support for The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim Switch is not being planned at this time. This confirmation isn't exactly surprising, knowing Nintendo's stance on the matter, still, it's definitely disappointing for those who expected even just minimal support.

Even without mod support, there are still plenty of reasons to enjoy The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim on Nintendo Switch, as the game will be getting new content as well as motion controls support and more.

The Legend of Zelda Outfits and Weapons – Tap compatible The Legend of Zelda character amiibo to gain outfits and gear inspired by the series. Take down enemies with the Master Sword, protect yourself with the Hylian shield, or look heroic in the Champion’s Tunic. Tap other compatible amiibo to gain additional loot. Compatible amiibo include those from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild series, 30th Anniversary – The Legend of Zelda series, Super Smash Bros. series, and The Legend of Zelda series.

Motion Controls: Use all-new motion controls for combat and lockpicking – battle with melee weapons, aim your bow and arrow, and more.

The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim launches before the end of the year on Nintendo Switch.
