The Project Cars 2 PS4 Pro enhancements have been detailed by the head of Slightly Mad Studios, Ian Bell.

We already knew that Project Cars 2 would benefit from the extra horsepower inside the PS4 Pro, details weren’t released. Replying to a PS4 Pro resolution discussion in a thread on the GTPlanet forums, Bell has now provided additional PS4 Pro details.

According to the studio head, Project Cars 2 will run at a higher resolution compared to the base PS4 with the game rendering in 1440p (2.5K or 2560 X 1440), which is being upscaled “beautifully” to 4K. Like most PS4 Pro enhanced games, the game will probably use ‘checkerboard rendering’ to upscale to 4K, though this hasn’t been confirmed.

Apart from increased resolution, Project Cars 2 will benefit from increased visual fidelity across the board with increased level of detail on cars, track objects, grass, etc.

Furthermore, the Pro will offer extra track detail meshes alongside increased detail and resolution with shadow rendering, and increased detail and resolution with reflection rendering.

Project Cars 2 is scheduled for a release later this week on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The racer will be an Xbox One X enhanced title when the console releases in November. The specific enhancements haven’t been detailed, but Game Director Stephen Viljoen has confirmed that the game will even look significantly better on Xbox One X compared to PS4 Pro.
