Update: The PlayStation conference hosted at Tokyo Game Show 2017 announced the arrival of Final Fantasy IX on PlayStation 4. The famous Jrpg title is now available from today on the PlayStation Store.

Original: Apparently, one of the surprises of Tokyo Game Show 2017 leaked a few hours ago before it started. What we mean is that new clues seem to indicate that Final Fantasy IX, the classic JRPG for PlayStation, is on its way to PlayStation 4.

The game recently appeared on the site of PEGI, The Pan European Game Information board in charge of rating video games.

The most interesting part of this leak is that it indicates that the title is supposed to debut today, Tuesday, September 19th. It is important to mention that Square Enix has not announced anything about it so, although some releases have been leaked in a similar way, it may also be an error.

At the moment, there are no more details on this possible relaunch, but most likely it is a port of the version of Final Fantasy IX that has been available on PC since last year. The HD edition of Final Fantasy VII first came to Steam and later debuted on the PlayStation 4, so it is not unreasonable to think that something like this is now happening again.

We remind you that the relaunch of Final Fantasy IX for PC presents several improvements among which there is compatibility with the achievement system, auto-save function, an option to increase the speed, graphics in high definition and some tricks that make it a more accessible experience. The version of PS4 listed by PEGI should be based on this.

In Final Fantasy IX, Zidane and the Tantalus Theater Troupe have kidnapped Princess Garnet, the heir of Alexandria. To their surprise, however, the princess herself yearned to escape the castle. Through a series of unusual circumstances, she and her personal guard, Steiner, fall in with Zidane and set out on an incredible journey. Meeting unforgettable characters like Vivi and Quina along the way, they learn about themselves, the secrets of the Crystal, and a malevolent force that threatens to destroy their world.
