Windows 10 October 2018 Update

Almost at the end of the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update development, the Windows development team is certainly hustling. While there are no more new features coming up, the bugs and improvements and some new bugs are coming in a bulk this week. Microsoft has now started to roll out Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16296 for PC. Today's build is available only to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring, as the Skip Ahead has skipped forward to the Redstone 4 development. They won't be receiving any new builds since the company is strictly focusing on the Fall Creators Update development right now.

What's fixed in today's Windows 10 Fall Creators Update Insider Preview Build 16296

While there are a number of fixes coming with today's build, Microsoft has added that Insiders won't be able to install any additional (new) language packs on this build. "Pre-existing language packs (language packs you’ve installed previously) will carry over and work just fine," Dona Sarkar added in the announcement post.

Here's the complete, albeit short, changelog:

General changes, improvements, and fixes for PC

  • We fixed an issue where Hyper-V couldn’t create a VM on 3rd party network storage.
  • We fixed an issue where for the first few minutes after clean installing a non-English build many inbox app names might unexpectedly appear with English app names.
  • We fixed an issue where gaming apps using WebView with heavy use of HTML canvas might have unexpectedly had very low FPS in recent flights.

Apart from this, Insiders in the Slow ring are also receiving Insider Preview Build 15252 for Mobile.

The updates are coming more quickly now as we are closing to the release of the Fall Creators Update next month. Microsoft added in today's post that it's "at the point of the development cycle for the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update where our focus is now on stabilization for release to the world."
