Super Mario Odyssey, the next game starring the popular Nintendo character, is a little over a month away, and the game has been shown multiple times in the past few weeks. Digital Foundry took a good look at the latest preview code and released a full technical analysis.

Digital Foundry's analysis, which can be watched in full below, reveals that Super Mario Odyssey runs at 900p, 60 FPS in docked mode, and at 720p, 60 FPS in handheld mode. While playing in docked mode, the game benefits from improved bloom, LOD, shadows and draw distance.

We put three new Mario Odyssey levels under the technical microscope. Visuals are adjusted in several ways to keep it ticking at 60fps, even while in portable - which Tom compared here to the full docked experience.

Our own Dave recently had the chance to spend more time with Super Mario Odyssey, trying out the Luncheon and Seaside Kingdoms.

Super Mario Odyssey really is shaping up to be an incredible game, filled to the brim with content and new things to discover. Most importantly, I already feel like this is a game I’m going to remember. I will travel to each kingdom, discover and explore as much as possible, and then in ten, fifteen, or even twenty years I’m going to come back and remember much of it; and that’s a gaming experience that just can’t be overstated.

Super Mario Odyssey launches on October 27th exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
