Apple did allow users to mirror their iPhone on a bigger display but it required an Apple TV attached to it. Now last year, AirBeamTV created an app for the Mac that allowed users to use the AirPlay mirroring to a Samsung TV without the need to plug in an Apple TV alongside it. This year, the company is aiming for the same results but with the use of an iPhone instead of a Mac. So let's dive in to see some more details on the Mirror for Samsung TV app.

In addition to this, the company touts that the operation has been successfully achieved with the use if the ReplayKit platform in iOS 11.

“At WWDC 2017, Apple announced that they have extended the functionality of the ReplayKit framework”, explains Demid Borodin, co-founder and Director of Video Technology. “This extended functionality opened the door for us to bring our popular Mirror for Samsung TV app also to iOS. Before iOS 11, we only supported macOS, now everybody with a modern iPhone and iPad can directly mirror to his Samsung TV.”

Moreover, the company also says that the process of mirroring an iPhone or iPad requires newer models of the iOS device. Ranging from the iPhone 6s onwards, and any iPad Pro model or the recently launched iPads that run iOS 11 are compatible.

However, there are a couple of limitations that you should note. First off, the latency is between one and three seconds so it might not be suitable for gaming. Secondly, the DRM-enabled application like Netflix would not mirror. Lastly, when you mirror your iPhone or iPad to the Samsung Smart TV, you will not get any audio from Safari.
