iMac Pro Is Now Available to Order

Announced a few months, the iMac Pro is officially available to purchase from Apple’s website. The machine featuring workstation-grade components carries a hefty $4,999 price tag, but you also get powerful hardware in return, as you’ll soon find out.

The all-in-one desktop computer is rocking the chassis of a beautiful iMac has a 27-inch 5K display which will be shipping in a sleek gray enclosure. With the packaging, you will also receive a space gray Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad, Magic Mouse 2, and Magic Trackpad 2. According to Apple, this is the most powerful Mac that has ever been made and we are not going to argue with that statement, that is unless the modular Mac Pro comes through next year.

So what do you get in terms of hardware for your $4,999 iMac Pro? Well, as stated before you get an 8-core processor, 32GB of DDR4 ECC memory, which is more reliable than your regular memory sticks. You also get 1TB of PCIe SSD storage and a Radeon Pro Vega 56 graphics processor with 8GB of HBM2 memory.

So how exactly is the iMac Pro going to keep the thermal performance in check in a chassis that is equivalent to that of an iMac? This has been made possible by an all-new thermal design that delivers up to 80 percent more cooling capacity as opposed to a traditional iMac. For the I/O, you get four Thunderbolt 3 ports, with a single one of these ports being able to drive two 5K displays or four 4K displays at 60Hz at the same time.

Not just this, but you also get a 10-Gigabit Ethernet port, four USB-A 3.0 ports, an SD card slot, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Thank heavens Apple managed to retain the headphone jack in the machine! In addition, you also get a 1080p front camera, stereo speakers, four microphones, an 802.11ac Wi-Fi adapter, and Bluetooth 4.2.
