The Galaxy Note 9 is going to be the first phone from Samsung to get the Synaptics fingerprint sensor that can be incorporated beneath the phone’s screen. While we all thought the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ would be the first devices to get this change, but it turns out that another one of Samsung’s competitors is going to get this scanner, and no, it is not going to be Apple or Huawei for that matter.
Vivo Is the First Company to Take Advantage of the Synaptics In-Display Fingerprint Reader - No Smartphone Model Details Provided Yet
Vivo revealed earlier this year that it showcased a smartphone that would sport an in-glass fingerprint reader but there were very minute details provided on this handset. Thankfully, analyst Patrick Moorhead experienced a hands-on with the sensor, and if you look at the pictures, it is smaller than a coin, meaning that it will effortlessly be able to get obscured by the rest of the smartphone’s components.
We are not sure how accurate or how fast this sensor is going to be, but Moorhead did reveal that it was ‘faster’ than what he expected. For a comparison between Touch ID and all the other variants, looks like we will have to wait for that development to come forward in the near future. As for Vivo, the Chinese smartphone OEM has not detailed any smartphone model that will be taking advantage of this fingerprint reader.

Also, Vivo probably possesses a rank in the top 5 smartphone manufacturers’ list because of its huge market in China and other regions. The brand also sells well in India, where a major percentage of the population is attracted towards devices that come with an impressive price/performance ratio.
Unfortunately, those who were expecting the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ to come with this change, you will have to eventually wait for the Galaxy Note 9. Still, there are other features and additions to look forward to once the flagships are announced during the month of February.
