The slider bar is one of the many unique features OnePlus devices bring to the table. Not many smartphones offer a hardware solution that lets you toggle your device between silent, vibration and default mode. It would have been even better if Oxygen OS let you customize it further by default. Tinkering around in the developer settings don't offer you a whole lot of options, so people often rely on other methods to get the job done.
Until recently, all one needed to customize the slider bar was root access. However, things changed after OnePlus merged Oxygen OS with the China-only Hydrogen OS. Due to Oxygen OS framework changes, root access alone isn’t enough anymore. Xposed changes how apps and software interface with the device’s hardware and modify how applications and other software compile and run.
However, thanks to XDA developer user Seveilith's Xposed Module, it is now possible to map the Alert Slider to do a lot of things, ranging from switching WiFi from on to off and taking a screenshot. The Oxygen Slider module intercepts alert slider changes in the system framework. Here's a complete list of the functions that can be mapped to the Alert Slider:

- Night mode [auto/custom/on/off]

Let's take a look at how to install the module in question
Step 1: Install Xposed
To install Xposed, you have to first unlock your bootloader. You can find out more about how to go about it on the OnePlus 3, 3T, 5 and 5T. Do note that it will result in a complete wipe of your device, so it is recommended that you backup your data before attempting it. It is also recommended that you use Magisk instead of SuperSU, as the Xposed framework for Android Oreo is in the form a Magisk Module. After that, you need to open the Magisk Manager application, tap the hamburger icon in the top-left corner, and hit the Downloads option. Finally, scroll all the way to the bottom and pick out the version of Xposed you want to install. In this case, Android 8.0 is API 26, and Android 8.1 is API 27.
Step 2: Install and enable Xposed Module
The Xposed Module can be downloaded here. Once installed, navigate to the Xposed app, enable the newly added Oxygen Slider module and reboot your device. When it starts up again, the module will be enabled.
Step 3: Customize alert slider
You're all set to customize the alert slider to your liking now. Do note that you will need to restart your devices for the changes to take effect every time.
