The HomePod is a straight-forward device. Set it up once and leave it in the corner. But once in a while, the speaker may freeze up or refuse to do what you ask it to. If that happens, just turn the power switch off and then back on again. Everything will be as good as new. But if the problem is bigger than you think, or you're just planning to sell off your HomePod, then you might wanna opt for the good old factory reset. Here's how you do it.
Factory Reset HomePod from Home app on iPhone
Assuming your HomePod is turned on and you have the same iOS device in hand which you used to set up the speaker, follow the steps outlined below.
1. Launch the Home app.
2. Now tap and hold HomePod under the Home or Rooms tab.
3. Scroll all the way to the bottom and then tap on Remove Accessory.
Give it a few minutes and your HomePod will be back to its factory settings.
Factory Reset Without an iOS Device
You don't need an iPhone, iPad or iPod to reset HomePod. Follow the steps below for a process that's even quicker.
1. Unplug your HomePod and plug it back in.
2. Now touch and hold the top of the HomePod. Do not lift your finger otherwise you will have to start over.
3. With your finger resting on the top, you'll see a spinning white light and Siri will tell you that the factory reset process is about to commence.
4. Once you hear the three beeps from the HomePod, this means everything went through just fine.
