Katsuhiro Harada, game director and producer on the Tekken series, has commented on the possibility of a Tekken 7 Xbox One X patch with 4K support.

While the fighting game has been enhanced for Sony’s PS4 Pro, the game hasn’t been updated for Microsoft’s enhanced Xbox One 4K console, the Xbox One X.

The game already supports 4K resolution as the PC version on Steam supports the Ultra HD resolution, but according to Harada, supporting 4K on the Xbox One X isn’t done easily as the Unreal Engine that Tekken 7 uses, will require quite a hefty update due to new hardware inside the Xbox One X and the way memory is accessed.

“The spec is enough (Of course TEKKEN7 is 4K compatible with Steam)”, the game director said on Twitter when asked about Tekken 7 Xbox One X 4K support. “But It requires a significant update of Unreal (UE version of TK7) for X. With the new hardware, we've to change the way access our memory greatly.”

Based on this reply, it seems that Tekken 7 Xbox One X enhancements aren’t on the team’s radar for now.

Tekken 7 is available now for Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4. You can find our review of the fighter right here. We've included the last paragraph from that review below:

"What else is there to say? Tekken is back, and with its seventh installment has created one of the very best competitive fighters on modern consoles. Whether you’re a noob that wants to button mash against friends or a fighting game pro, Tekken 7 is worth it. Just don’t expect the story mode to be anything more than a short diversion."
