You can now download iOS 11.2.6 for iPhone and iPad. This update contains fix for a bug that was crashing devices when a specific Indian character was sent over.

It came to light that a specific Indian character, when messaged or emailed over to someone, crashed an iOS device to bits and there was nothing a user could do about it. Apple acknowledged the problem and promised a fix. Interestingly, the fix is already implemented in the latest iOS 11.3 Beta, but that release is miles away from now. So, in quick Apple fashion, a small update is being rolled out today that fixes the issue for everyone around the globe ahead of time. That update is iOS 11.2.6, and it is highly recommended that you give it a download right now.
Like any other iOS update released after iOS 5, you can download this one over the air, of course. Simply connect to a WiFi network, make sure you have more than 50% of battery remaining, and navigate to Settings > General > Software Update. Once the update shows up just download iOS 11.2.6.
You may clean install the update if you want, but I will not recommend that since is an extremely small update. I will not recommend holding back from this update one bit. Though you might have your reasons for it, and I'm certain they are legit, but the annoyance goes through the roof once you realize how a simple text message can cripple your device to oblivion. So please, consider this a favor for your well-being and install the update right now. It will barely take fifteen minutes even if you have a shoddy Internet connection. Remember that the download won't happen over a cellular connection though as Apple does not allow over the air updates using that route.
