For quite a while now, many apps have tried to copy Snapchat’s features. It looks like its Snapchat’s turn to do the copying. The company is bringing a feature to the app that is already seen in Instagram Stories. Users will now be able to add GIFs stickers to their posts. Looks like the company is running out of ideas to stand out and is now taking a leaf out of its competitors books.

Making Snapchat Entertaining with GIFs

GIFs in stories is indeed a very interesting feature and it would be interesting adding this to our snaps. The GIF options, powered by Giphy, will be loaded in the Sticker Picker along with the other options already present in the app. The company is also rolling out another feature. It is now adding tabs to the Friends and the Discover screen and this will supposedly make things easier for the users. How? Well, with this feature you will be able to follow the Stories whenever you want and will also allow you to view friends with active stories and Group chats in one tab.

Users have complained a lot about the recent update of the app and even signed a petition against the update. However, it seems that the CEO and founder Evan Spiegel is convinced that this change is for the better. He noted that the recent quarterly earnings show that the redesigns have “made our application simpler and easier to use.” He also added that there has been an improved ad performance after the update. He said that the company is “constantly monitoring the rollout of the redesign and making improvements based on what we learn from our community and their usage of Snapchat,”

I don’t know about Spiegel but I am convinced that the recent update was pathetic and it did not make life easier. It made the app very complicated and not at all user friendly. Let’s hope the CEO realizes this and reverses the update. In the meanwhile enjoy the GIFs and let us know what you think.
