YouTube has had a white interface since its first day. While you have the option available on the desktop to turn the dark mode on, mobile devices did not quite have the accessibility. However, this is about to change as the platform is adding a new dark mode to its iOS app. The update is rolling out to iOS users starting today (The Verge). The all white interface of the YouTube app on iOS is pretty difficult to watch sometimes, especially at night time. The dark mode will allow users to not strain their eyes for staring at the screen for a longer period of times. So the addition is definitely a welcome change. Once the new theme is available to users, it can be activated quite easily. Just follow the step by step instructions below:

  1. The first thing that you have to do is tap on your account icon.
  2.  Once you do that, select Settings.
  3. In the options available tap on "dark theme" in order to turn it on.

That's all you have to do in order to enable dark mode on your YouTube for iOS app. So what changes in the interface does the dark mode bring? Once enabled, you will see that many of the colors of the user interface are inverted. The conventional white background will shift to a black background which will not strain your eyes.

The feature was in the testing phase for a long time and we're glad that it has finally made it out.
