The Android Oreo update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 was long overdue, and Samsung promised that all eligible devices would receive it within the next few weeks. There was no dearth of third-party solutions that allowed you to sideload the image manually, but for most users, an OTA is a way to go. The AT&T Galaxy Note 8 began receiving the update a few days ago. The Verizon and Sprint variants are the next in line and users have reported receiving the update on their devices. The update is bundled with the March security patch and brings all the Oreo goodies along with Samsung Experience 9.0. You should expect it to hit your device soon, and if you can't wait, head over to Settings> About Device> Check For Update, which should allow you to download it.

Samsung’s pushing out the April 2018 security patch to one device

We're not entirely sure how Samsung pulled it off, but it doesn't seem to be their first time.  The company has released the April security patch for the Galaxy J3 (2017), which is receiving an update in the Netherlands and Luxembourg. We don't know what's in the patch, and we won't until Google rolls it out for the Pixel and Nexus range of devices. This won't be the first instance where Samsung released a security update for a non-flagship device, the other being the relatively unknown Galaxy Xcover 4 receiving the February 2018 security patch update before flagship devices.

March 2018 security patch rolling out to the Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy C7 Pro and Galaxy A8+ (2018)

Technically, Samsung is on time when it comes to delivering the March security update to their devices. Most eligible devices had received theirs earlier this month, and a few devices were left out. Samsung started rolling out the latest security patch release for the Galaxy S7 earlier this week, and It was only a matter of time before the Galaxy S7 Edge got it as well. The firmware version G935FXXS2DRC3 for the Galaxy S7 edge in several markets. Expect it to hit your device soon.

Despite falling under the budget device category, the Galaxy C7 Pro is finally getting a security patch. Samsung has released firmware version C701FDDU1BRC2 for the Galaxy C7 Pro in India today. The device was previously running an obsolete security patch from August 2017, so the update was much needed. The update is now being rolled out for users over-the-air in India and should be available to users in other countries soon. A major Android update is highly unlikely for the device and users will have to be content with security updates.

The Galaxy A8 (2018) was one of the first devices to receive the March security update, but it was still pending in some locations. The device is now receiving firmware version A730FXXU2ARC9 in markets such as Russia and Uzbekistan. However, this is the most significant update the Galaxy S8 (2018) will receive in a while, as Samsung put it on a quarterly update schedule.
