Snapdragon 710 Is Going to Be the First of Many SoCs Belonging to the Snapdragon 700 Series

Qualcomm unveiled its Snapdragon 700 lineup of processors at the Mobile World Congress this year. Taking to Twitter, Roland Quandt said that the first processor to be announced from this lineup is the Snapdragon 710 and stated that model number would be defined as ‘SDM710’.

Qualcomm Earlier Commented That the Snapdragon 700 Series Would Deliver up to 30% Better Power Efficiency

Although the leakster didn’t reveal anything else, we have a good idea what the Snapdragon 710 will offer, based on Qualcomm’s announcement regarding Snapdragon 700 series. The Snapdragon 710 is going to be a mid-range SoC and will probably start shipping before July. Even though it will be a mid-range silicon, it will be targeted at the upper-mid-range sector, so it will probably fuel powerful mid-range smartphones. The chip is also expected to have some AI features.

According to Qualcomm, the chip maker compared the Snapdragon 700 series against the Snapdragon 660, so we’re hoping that these performance differences can be seen in the Snapdragon 710 too. It will be able to achieve twice the AI performance and 30 percent better power efficiency than other members. We should also expect newer CPU and GPU architectures from Qualcomm.

Apart from that, the Snapdragon 700 lineup of processors will be better than the Snapdragon 600 series processors in terms of battery, camera, and general efficiency. All of the chips from the Snapdragon 700 series will have the Adreno Visual Processing subsystem, Spectra ISP, Kryo CPU and the Hexagon Vector Processor. Qualcomm’s fast charging technology with the latest one being Quick Charge 4+, and Bluetooth 5.0 will also be supported. It is expected that the chips will also offer benefits in the area of connectivity.

Since Qualcomm said that the series will begin shipping the first half of the year, we can expect to hear an announcement about the Snapdragon 710 very soon.

In short, the Snapdragon 700 series of chips will present a few compromises when compared to the Snapdragon 800 family, but offer nearly the same benefits, at a cheaper cost to manufacturers.
