2018 Is Not the Year You Will See the New and Improved Mac Pro and for Good Reason

For those waiting for the Mac Pro to arrive in 2018, we’re sorry to inform you but you will need to wait until 2019 to see it and hopefully, purchase one. The revamped workstation was expected to arrive this year, but after the update that Apple has given to a technology publication representative, you will have to wait a bit longer.

Mac Pro Being Released in 2018 Could Have Cannibalized iMac Pro Sales - Will Also Give Apple & Engineering Team to Improve Design, Functionality & Thermals

Employees in the meeting included John Ternus, VP of Hardware Engineering, Tom Boger, Senior Director of Mac Hardware Marketing, Jud Coplan, Director of video Apps Product Marketing, and Xander Soren, Director of Music Apps Product Marketing.

According to Matthew Panzarino from TechCrunch, the Mac Pro will not be arriving before 2019 as the product is still in development.

"We want to be transparent and communicate openly with our pro community so we want them to know that the Mac Pro is a 2019 product. It's not something for this year." In addition to transparency for pro customers on an individual basis, there's also a larger fiscal reasoning behind it.

It is also possible that the company decide to sell more iMac Pro units before they finally get down to introducing the Mac Pro, otherwise sales of the most powerful iMac Pro might be compromised if it were to get released this year.

We are not sure if you remember, but Apple’s Senior VP for Marketing, Phil Schiller said the following related to the tech giant listening to it customers:

“We recognize that they want to hear more from us. And so we want to communicate better with them. We want them to understand the importance they have for us, we want them to understand that we’re investing in new Macs — not only new MacBook Pros and iMacs but Mac Pros for them, we want them to know we are going to work on a display for a modular system.”

The Mac Pro is expected to come with a modular design, meaning that users will effortlessly be able to swap out components. The iMac Pro also sports replaceable internals, but getting inside the machine is an arduous task and also voids the warranty of the workstation.

Are you disappointed that the Mac Pro will be arriving in 2019 instead of 2018? Tell us down in the comments.
