If you are new to the HomeKit smart home game, then managing things is quite easy at first. But once you populate your home or workspace with too many smart devices, then getting to the ones that matter the most on a daily basis can become a hectic task.
Of course, you can bypass the Home app altogether and ask Siri to close a certain set of lights or turn the fan off, but in the sea of devices you have, utilizing Siri might not be the best available option for a wide variety of reasons.
See, if you have a certain set of devices that you use the most (such as a particular lamp) then it's a good idea to keep them in a place that allows easy access. Sure, you can separate them by rooms, but what if you don't want that either? This is where the powering of favoriting comes in. Once you favorite a HomeKit device, it will be front and center in the Home app the moment you launch it. In today's guide we will show you how you can favorite HomeKit devices.
Favorite HomeKit Devices - Tutorial
Note: This tutorial is only applicable to those who have HomeKit-enabled devices at home.
1. Launch the Home app.
2. Now tap on Rooms at the bottom.
3. Tap on the Edit button on the top right hand corner.
4. Select the accessory from the available list of devices which you wish to favorite.
5. Now select the Include in Favorites option and then tap on Done at the top right hand corner. Do this for every device in every room.
6. Tap on the Home tab at the bottom and you'll see all your favorite HomeKit accessories under the Favorite Accessories heading. Pretty neat, right?
By the way, in case you wish to remove a HomeKit device from the list of favorites, just tap on the Edit button on the Home tab, select the device you wish to remove and then uncheck the Include in Favorites button.
Personally, I recommend favoriting the lights in your HomeKit setup as they are the first things in the entire ecosystem you go to. But it's entirely up to you how you wish to go about this.
