Apple Hired Former Samsung Executive To Lead Operations In South Korea

Brandon Yoon is an experienced executive who has previously worked for Microsoft as well as Samsung. As we have mentioned earlier, poaching an executive away from Samsung will lead business efforts in the region. The South Korean market is Samsung's own backyard and hiring one of its executives could potentially reap positive results for the company in the long run. The region has been difficult to penetrate for Apple and the company is working to change that.

Yoon has also held a post at Microsoft but more recently, he served as a corporate vice president at Samsung in which he catered digital strategy and other areas. He served the Korean tech conglomerate for less than three years but worked at several positions for Microsoft in his tenure of four years.

Brandon Yoon, a veteran Microsoft Corp. executive and most recently a vice president at Samsung Electronics Co., joined this month as general manager of Apple Korea, according to his LinkedIn profile. An Apple spokesman declined to comment

Brandon Yoon's LinkedIn profile indicates that he has taken the position this month. Apple has struggled in South Korea in its business efforts and slowing iPhone sales. Possibly, the new hiring with a deeper understanding of the region would allow for more control. There will be more to the story, so be sure to stay tuned in for more details.
