Now, Taiwanese publication DigiTimes is back with more details for the notebook. According to DigiTimes, Apple's supply chain sources have received information that the company has deferred production the 2018 MacBook Air's production, to the second half of this year i.e. to June. This makes it safe to assume that it will not launch at the WWDC.

In traditional fashion, Apple has informed its supply chain partners of the decision, without providing the reasons behind it. The 2018 MacBook Air will play a critical role in Cupertino's upgraded product portfolio directly taking on Google's Chromebooks in the education sector. The device is also expected to feature Cupertino's Retina Display, currently found on its higher-powered notebook variants.

Apple's first move in the area was this year's iPad that brought prices for performance-intensive hardware down to levels affordable by educators. The rumored price points for the 2018 MacBook Air also look to present a similar picture. With this latest delay, expect the gadget to launch no sooner than October. Thoughts?
