Atari VCS Specs Unveiled – Bristol Ridge A10, Radeon R7, 4GB DDR4 RAM, Mouse & Keyboard Support

The Atari VCS campaign is live now on Indiegogo and has already rushed past $2 million. With a month left, it's possible this will surpass OUYA's $8.5 million record for console crowdfunding.

The Indiegogo campaign also includes a detailed, albeit subject to change, look at the Atari VCS specifications. The hardware mixes a Bristol Ridge A10 CPU with a Radeon R7 GPU, alongside 4GB of DDR4 RAM and 32GB of eMMC storage (with support for expansion through external hard drives or SD cards). The OS uses Linux based on Ubuntu and then customized for an Atari-styled interface.

Interestingly, mouse and keyboard support is promised out of the box. The FAQ also adds that Linux-based Steam games which meet the Atari VCS hardware specifications should run on the console.

In-game chat services will be available (though it is unclear whether this will happen at launch or later) and some of the exclusive new versions of the classic Atari games will support online PvP multiplayer, so there's a chance you might soon be playing Pong against your friends.

Last but not least, the console is being manufactured by Flex while PowerA is making the classic and modern controllers.
