6.5" iPhone X(s) Plus Vs 6.1" iPhone 9; 4K Renders Show Minute But Critical Design Differences Between The Devices
A few days back, we saw renders for both the iPhone 9 and iPhone XS Plus shared. These fell in line with the continuation of Apple's current design approach on the smartphone lineup. However, these images did not provide a good look at the difference between both the devices. That changes today, as the same source has shared some 4K renders of the iPhone 9 and the iPhone XS Plus.
The iPhone 9 is rumored to not only feature an LCD display but also a thicker more expensive display technology that will increase thickness and durability at the same. Whether inadvertently or not, today's 4K renders show us the differences on the iPhone 9 and iPhone XS Plus' front as a result of the change.
Right off the bat, one difference is clearly visible in today's images. The iPhone 9 has a thicker border around its screen panel when compared to the iPhone XS Plus. This difference between the two devices is most clearly visible in the fourth image above. Additionally, the iPhone 9 also appears to have a much heftier form, although this might be an effect of the image's black background blending in with its color.
Nevertheless, leaks do support a thicker iPhone 9. The device is reported to have an 8.3mm thickness, more than that of the iPhone X Plus which will stand at 7.7mm. Reports also suggest that Apple might delay the iPhone 9 due to True Depth related problems, but we expect the company to smoothen out these hiccups without letting them affect its launch schedule.
