Red Thread’s Next Game, Draugen, To Launch Next Year on PC and Consoles

If you completely forgot about Draugen, the first-person psychological horror game in development at Red Thread Games, it would be hard to blame you in any way.

The game was first teased a very long time ago, in March 2014 during EGX Rezzed. Since then we've heard very little, if anything, about it and that obviously led to speculation of all kinds, including that the project had been canceled.

However, the official Twitter account posted an update to prove that's not the case, stating that the 'dead' (Draugr are undead creatures in Norse mythology) will live again. We got curious and checked the official website afterward and the homepage reveals that Red Thread is currently planning to release it next year for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Draugen is a first-person psychological suspense story set in north-western Norway in the year 1923.

It’s October and we’re on the threshold of winter. Edward Harden has just arrived in the remote coastal community of Graavik after a harrowing ocean journey from Boston, USA. Accompanied by his ward Alice, Edward is following the trail of his missing sister, Elizabeth.

Over the next week, trapped in this godforsaken corner of the world, framed by fjord and mountains, Edward and Alice will search for the missing woman...and unravel a mystery going back decades. But there's also the question of Edward's sanity. Can we trust everything he sees and hears?

Made in Norway, Draugen blends Nordic Noir with gothic suspense, Norse mythology and cosmic horror into a unique and haunting Fjord Gothic experience.

Coming in 2019 to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One from Red Thread Games.

We might learn more about Draugen at Gamescom, then. As a reminder, Red Thread Games was founded by former Funcom employees such as Ragnar Tørnquist. Their first game was Dreamfall Chapters, funded via Kickstarter and released a while ago.
