Despite a good six months left before its launch, Samsung's Galaxy S10 lineup is a regular feature of the rumor mill. The company's Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ did not bode well in the market at all and subsequently, we're witnessing wild claims for the S10. Allegedly, Samsung will launch three devices this year, as it looks to broaden the lineup's footprint and rake in more sales. Now, we've got some more information for the Galaxy S10 trio. Take a look below for more details.

Taiwanese Supply Chain Reports Corroborate Claims That Two Out Of Three Galaxy S10 Variants Will Feature Ultrasonic Fingerprint Recognition Next Year

Rumors of virtual fingerprint recognition for the Galaxy S10 lineup are some of the oldest we've seen. To recap, Samsung's three Galaxy S10 will feature 5.8", 6.1", and 6.4" display panels. Similar to Apple's rumored approach for this year, Samsung will reserve an LCD display for 5.8" Galaxy S10, while the other two devices will feature its high-end AMOLED display panels.

Additionally, they have also been rumored to bear ultrasonic fingerprint recognition, especially after Samsung chief DJ Koh directly put to rest claims of optical fingerprint recognition; a feature found on some Chinese smartphones. According to Mr. Koh, optical sensing is inaccurate and therefore unworthy of Samsung's attention.

Subsequently, and following in line with earlier rumors, ultrasonic recognition is now rumored to make it on two of the three Galaxy S10 variants; namely the larger devices with 6.1" and 6.4" display panels. Today's supply chain reports further bolster these claims, as Samsung is looking to go all with the Galaxy S10 next year.

Today's report comes from Taiwan, instead of the regular news we see from the South Korean press. Suppliers in Taiwan are reporting that Samsung is interested in ultrasonic fingerprint recognition because it wants to differentiate the 2019 Galaxy S smartphones from both Apple's and Chinese companies' offerings.

Therefore, Samsung will equip both of the larger S10 variants with ultrasonic fingerprint recognition. Taiwanese GIS (General Interface Solution) and Chinese O-tech will provide the ultrasonic fingerprint sensors for the 6.1" and 6.4" Galaxy S10 variants. In addition to these reports, sources are also reporting on Samsung's production estimates for the lineup, which are quite different from Apple's rumored approach with the 2018 iPhone lineup.

While Cupertino will place the brunt of its production, and expectations, on the  6.1" LCD iPhone 9, Samsung will instead produce more units of the AMOLED Galaxy S10 variants. According to today's information, Samsung will produce 40 million units of the Galaxy S10 trio, out of which the two AMOLED devices will account for 34-36 million units. That's a very biased mix and makes us wonder the reasoning behind introducing an affordable and feature-light Galaxy S10 in the first place. Thoughts?
