After Apple unleashed the most expensive iPhone model back in 2017, the company could be looking to dial down that pricing by a noticeable margin with the announcement of three brand new models, out of which one of them is going to be named the iPhone 9 and feature an LCD screen. A device that features only some of the compromises as opposed to the remaining two devices getting unveiled alongside it coupled with an OLED screen means that it will be considered as a terrific buying option thanks to its low-cost factor.

It will be intended for those that don’t want to splurge a lot of money on an iPhone but want to get to check out first hand what it feels like to be in possession of a device that touts the same design as its more expensive counterparts. Some analysts have weighed in their thoughts regarding the starting price of the iPhone 9 and according to them, it will be the same as an iPhone 8.

iPhone 9 Featuring an LCD Screen and 6.1-Inch Display Could Start From $699 for the Base Version - Dual-SIM Version Could Be Sold but Outside of the U.S.

According to TrendForce, the iPhone 9 could start from $699, which to remind you, is the starting price of the iPhone 8 for the 64GB model. Instead of the home button, users will now be taking advantage of Face ID, a feature that is also going to be present in the remaining two models.

“For the budget 6.1-inch LCD version, it will come with Face ID, Dual-SIM function, and a larger screen than its predecessor iPhone 8. The specs upgrades would make new iPhones more favorable in the competition with Android phones. On the other hand, the cost of this model has been approaching that of iPhone 8 Plus due to the upgrades.

However, the 6.1-inch LCD model would be positioned by Apple’s main product this year, with a production share of around 50% in the new iPhone series. Apple is bound to adjust the prices of this model to meet the market expectation and to further expand its market share. Considering the cost reduction of components, TrendForce estimates the starting price of this LCD version at around $699~749.”

As for the 5.8-inch iPhone X successor, Apple is expected to price it in between $899 and $949 while it will sport 4GB of RAM. As for the largest iPhone X Plus, which will come with a mammoth 6.5-inch OLED screen is expected to start from $999. TrendForce also predicts that the production volume of the three new iPhones will be around 83-88 million units, thus taking up a potentially larger share of the company's annual sales volume.
