Ever since its release last month, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has already received two updates. The first one enabled super slow motion video recording at 960fps and the second fixed some bugs with the Bixby Button. Today, a third one is being rolled out, and it is the most significant of the lot, as it promises to improve the camera experience substantially. The new software promises better clarity, HDR and less noise in low light.
The update is currently being rolled out in Germany, and other regions are expected to follow suit soon. The 302MB download brings firmware version N960FXXU2ARI9 and is devoid of any security patch. The update is centred around camera optimizations as indicated by the changelog (we couldn't get out hands on an English version, unfortunately). Low light performance gets a boost as well owing to a better SNR - Signal to Noise Ratio which, as the name indicates, aims to reduce noise.
Presumably, Samsung has also tinkered with the automatic optimization software in the camera of the Galaxy Note 9. The Galaxy Note 9 packs some of the best camera hardware and it would be a shame if it can't perform at its full potential due to bad software. All things considered, the device is relatively new so it's ok if it takes Samsung some time to get the software right.
