On April 1st this year (not an ideal date to make serious announcements, I know) CloudFlare launched its own DNS service called “1.1.1.1.”. CloudFlare’s DNS resolver claims to be different from your ISP’s or other DNS alternatives like Google Public DNS and Cisco OpenDNS. The company claims that it’s focused on privacy and speed first. Additionally, your IP address is never logged or saved on CloudFlare’s servers. According to CloudFlare, 1.1.1.1 is up to 28% faster than other DNS solutions out there.
It also helps battle censorship in countries like Turkey and Venezuela which have been known to censor and block several websites. Today, CloudFlare announced that 1.1.1.1 can be used on Android phones via a simple, easy-to-use app.

All you need to do is download the app, open it, and tap on the toggle to use CloudFlare’s 1.1.1.1 DNS and navigate with it. It doesn’t require root or any other modifications as it uses Android’s VPN API to connect to the alternative DNS resolver. This means that if you’re using 1.1.1.1, you won’t be able to use an actual VPN provider at the same time. You can download the app using this link. Do note that an alternative DNS resolver might not let you access certain banned websites in your region. You're better off using a full-fledged VPN service.
