Samsung's OneUI-based Android Pie is going better than expected. After its launch last month, the Galaxy S9 has already received its third iteration, which addressed a plethora of bugs that were plaguing the release. It wouldn't be long before the Galaxy Note 9 would follow suit and today it is receiving its second Pie beta update. The update comes with software version N960FXXU2ZRL6 and is available OTA in all the regions where the beta program is active. The program seems to be going a lot better compared to last years and it looks like we may a stable release by January.
Update similar to that of the Galaxy S9
The changelog for the Note 9 update is the same as the one for the Galaxy S9, which indicates that both the devices are more or less at the same stage of the beta. Issues such as Autofill not working, the Dialer app freezing, the YouTube app closing when you enter the recent apps screen, response delays during calls, and more have been fixed in the new release. As expected, the update comes with the December Android security patch.
You can grab the new Note 9 Pie beta from the Software update menu of the Settings app on the device. Tap the Download and install button in there and the 553.88 MB update should start downloading. To help Samsung understand the cause of crashes/restarts better, head over to the Galaxy Members (Samsung+ app for people based in the US) app. There you'll be greeted by the Galaxy Beta program welcome screen. Tap the Settings button at the top, then tap Send error logs. Enable the Lock up/Restarting reports option.
