iOS 12.2 Beta

Apple has released iOS 12.2 beta 1 for all compatible iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices. The update is available for developers only.

Having released iOS 12.1.3 earlier this week, Apple has now turned its attention towards the next big software update for iPhone and iPad devices, iOS 12.2. Given how early this is, therefore it's hard to speculate what the new software update brings with it. But if we are to take a wild guess at this point, then it's likely that Apple has made changes to how HomeKit works and incorporates bits on controlling TV sets. But again, that's just speculation at this point.

What we can expect from this update is a plethora of fixes under the hood that further improves performance of iOS devices out there. If there are feature additions in this release then we will highlight them in a separate article. For now, let's make do with the fact that a new update is available for developers and that should be enough to tickle the fancy a lot of diehard users out there.

iOS 12.2 beta

In order to grab the update right now, you must have a registered developer account with Apple. It's a paid offer, obviously. And it will set you back $99 on an annual basis, giving you access to all the beta bits of Cupertino's upcoming software. Once signed up and logged in, simply head over to the Download section on the Apple Developer Program website and from there you can get the update as an over the air update, which is convenient since you don't lose your files or settings, or you can download an IPSW file which you can use to restore your device to using iTunes. We highly recommend the former route due to its simplicity, rest is entirely your call.

At this point in time, we will not recommend installing iOS 12.2 beta since it's an early release therefore it could be marred with a bunch of issues especially those pertaining to battery life. So, exercise a bit of caution before going ahead with the installation.
