A Resident Evil TV series may be in the works at Netflix, according to a report published yesterday by Deadline. This Resident Evil TV series, apparently still in the early stages, will be produced by the same company that was behind the movies, German studio Constantin Film. Interestingly, this would be in addition to the rebooted movie series, which would see Johannes Roberts writing and directing the feature film.

As for the TV series, the showrunner is still to be decided. The rumor also mentions that the goal would be to explore what's really going on at Umbrella Corporation as well as the consequences of the T-virus on the existing world order.

This wouldn't be the first videogame adaptation into a Netflix show. There's been the Castlevania animated series, of course, and the live action The Witcher adaptation with Henry Cavill due to star as Geralt of Rivia.

CAPCOM's premier franchise is making a comeback on multiple fronts, it seems. The remake of the beloved Resident Evil 2 is now available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and it is another critical success as explained by Nathan in his review of the game. We'll see whether commercial success will be on the same level.

Resident Evil 2 is a polished, respectful remake of a survival horror classic that probably would have benefitted from a slightly more daring approach. Hints of a braver revamp are sprinkled throughout, but it doesn’t take the risks necessary to join the canon of truly great video game remakes. Make no mistake though, if you loved the original Resident Evil 2, you’ll likely love the remake, and new players who can tolerate a few old-school quirks ought to have a gruesome good time as well.
