At last year’s Mobile World Congress, HMD Global announced five new smartphones, including the Nokia 8110 4G and the long-delayed Nokia 8 Sirocco. It now seems that the company would be taking the same path this year as well, as it has announced a keynote event for the upcoming MWC 2019 trade show. While it hasn’t been revealed which phones the company would be unveiling during the event, we do have a few guesses, as evidenced by the excitement in the tweet. This can mean Nokia 9 PureView might make an appearance during the smartphone-focused trade show.

Nokia 9 PureView Was Earlier Delayed Due to Sub-Par Camera Quality

The news comes from none other than HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas, who took to Twitter to announce that the company would be making an appearance at MWC on February 24. Interestingly, LG has also planned a keynote event for the same date so the two will be competing for the limelight.

The company might finally reveal the Nokia 9 PureView, which has already been delayed several times. The phone is rumored to come with a unique Penta-lens setup and the PureView technology, which apparently is the reason why it is behind schedule. The Nokia 9 PureView is expected to be fueled by last year’s Snapdragon 845 SoC, and this could make the phone a tough sell as most of this year’s flagships would be rocking the newly released Snapdragon 855 chipset.

However, it has been rumored that the Nokia 9 will be getting a 5G-ready variant that will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 855. Apart from the Nokia 9 PureView, the company might also unveil the Nokia 8.1 Plus and Nokia 6.2 at MWC, both of which are rumored to come with a pinhole display. Some reports have also alleged that the Nokia 8.1 Plus and the Nokia 6.2 are actually the same products, but with no word from the company itself, we will have to wait to find out whether these are two separate phones or not.

Apart from these, HMD Global might also launch a couple of other entry-level and mid-range phones at the trade show. While several devices from the licensee will be important for several markets, if the Nokia 9 PureView gets announced next month, it’s Penta-lens camera system should be enough to blow away the crowd and steal most of the spotlight away.
