AirPods 2 rumors have become rampant, echoing that the second-generation wireless earphones from Apple will launch later year during spring, and what’s more important is that the company’s AirPower charging accessory could be making an appearance too. As it is with every iteration, the AirPods 2 will come with more features, as well as a new color option, according to the latest rumor.

AirPods 2 Rumored to Come With a New Black Color - New Material Will Reportedly Make Holding the Earphones Much Simpler

According to Economic News Daily, the second-gen AirPods are already in production at Apple partner Inventec, with the upcoming iteration allegedly sporting a new exterior material that will allow users to grip it properly. The new material is also said to be used for the charging case, so it appears that Apple is making both items less slippery, leading to a better lifespan.

In addition to the AirPods 2, and as we’ve stated before too, the long-delayed AirPower charging mat is also said to be making an appearance. In case you didn’t know, Apple first teased the AirPower alongside the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X back in 2017. Apple showcased that its AirPower charging mat would be able to wirelessly charge multiple devices, including Qi-compliant iPhones, the Apple Watch and an unreleased AirPods wireless charging case.

Previously, there were several rumors pointing that AirPower would be making an appearance last year, but it was rumored that due to overheating problems plaguing the product, it could never commercially materialize. Even now, Apple has been silent on why a product as basic as this would take so long to reach the market. We’re confident Tim Cook will have answers concerning the accessory once its arrives. Apple is also said to launch new iPad models next month, which include the iPad mini 5 and the iPad 7.

There’s certainly a lot to look forward to next month, assuming the rumor turns out to be true. If there are any changes made to these rumors, you’ll read all about them in due time.
