Microsoft released the second wave of Windows 10 cumulative updates for February earlier this week. While these updates were made available for various versions of the operating system, there wasn't one available for the latest October 2018 Update. It appears the Windows maker is currently testing the Windows 10 cumulative update for version 1809 through its Insiders community.
The upcoming Windows 10 October 2018 Update build 17763.346 follows the release of build 17763.316 that was released on February 12, bringing a number of bug fixes. There are also four known issues in this build, some of which are likely to be addressed with the release of build 17763.346.
Microsoft is now regularly using Release Preview to test Windows 10 cumulative updates
The Release Preview ring is designed by Microsoft to iron out any last minute issues before releasing updates to the public. Since the release snafu of the October 2018 Update that brought a number of issues with it including some data loss problems, users have been asking Microsoft to improve its QA process. Windows 10 October 2018 Update was made available to the public without it first passing through the Release Preview ring. Microsoft has since tried to test Windows 10 cumulative updates through this ring before delivering them to the public.
Build 17763.346 for Windows 10 1809 appeared for Released Preview Insiders last night (via Reddit) and it is expected the company will deliver it to the masses next week.
One notable fix that this upcoming cumulative update is bringing is Action Center "left-right" bug. "We fixed an issue where the Action Center might suddenly appear on the opposite side of the screen before appearing on the correct side," Microsoft writes.
The bug was fixed in 19H1 preview builds, and it appears the fix is also being back-ported to 1809. We also saw this fix coming earlier with KB4476976, however, Insiders on Reddit note that it can no longer be "reproduced in any way."
