Since these sound waves can’t travel too far, the fingerprint scanner might not work with tempered glass screen protectors. According to Android Central, the reason for this is that the adhesive used to glue the screen protector to the phone creates a thin air gap, which prevents the ultrasonic scanner from working properly. That’s why some glass screen protector makers have punched a hole towards the fingerprint area.
