In the past few weeks, rumors regarding the release of two new Nintendo Switch models have been circulating online. With the E3 being close, many expected Nintendo to make some sort of announcement regarding them, but it seems like this won't be happening anytime soon.

In a recent financial results briefing, Nintendo CEO Shuntaro Furukawa confirmed, as reported by Reuter's Sam Nussey, that new hardware is not going to be announced at this year's E3. He also stated, however, that new hardware is getting developed internally at all times, so if an announcement is coming, it will come later than June.

Yesterday, Bloomberg reported that the Nintendo Switch Lite model is apparently releasing at the end of June, which seems unlikely in light of today's news.

Growth in the current period will get a boost from the launch of a new, cheaper version of the Switch, according to two people familiar with the matter who requested anonymity to discuss private plans. The new device will likely be launched by the end of June, according to one of the people. The existing Switch will receive a modest upgrade this year, though a more powerful version is not in the works, the people said.
