ASRock has displayed its Flagship motherboard for Intel's X79 Platform titled "X79 EXtreme7". The motherboard is fitted with top quality components to allow best functionality support with Intel's Sandy Bridge-E Processors compatible with the LGA 2011 socket.
ASRock has really done a great job designing the board, The All Black PCB and golden colored components look terrific and the heatsink/heatpipe design is one of the best comparing to other X79 boards we detailed earlier. The 3 Blade shaped heatsinks covering the VRM/Power phase and linked together with curved heatpipes and gold plated Sold C-Caps are included to improve stability.
The motherboard features 6 DDR3 DIMM Slots, This was something weird since X79 only allows for Quad Channel interface and why ASRock opted for 6 instead of 8 DDR3 slots, ASRock explained that while the motherboard retains Quad Channel Interface supporting memory upto 2400Mhz+ the other extra slots would allow for extra memory capacity if needed.
Expansion slots include five PCI-E x16 and one PCI slot, SLI and CrossfireX mode are supported though its unknown if the slots are Gen 3.0. Near the 10 SATA 6Gbps ports is located the X79 Southbridge which comes with its own heatsink coupled with a tiny fan to cool the chipset down. There's also room for USB 3.0 Expansion ports along with LED Debug, Power On/Off, Reset and Clear CMOS switch.
Bacplate I/O features two PS / 2, two USB 3.0, six USB 2.0, one IEEE1394a, an eSATA / USB, two RJ-45, fiber optic and coaxial S / PDIF, six analog audio ports. The motherboard is one of the finest X79 based board i've seen yet, Pricing has not been revealed yet but its likely to launch next month with Sandy Bridge-E Platform release.
